I carried around this blanket that I called my “Ningya.” Don’t ask me where the name came from. But I carried it around everywhere. It got so old and raggedy from me dragging it around the house, outside, everywhere that my parents made me get rid of it. I was about, eh, maybe three years old. I vividly remembered standing in front of the garbage can, tears streaming down my face, and my father persuading me to throw it away. That I was a big girl now and I didn’t need my “Ningya” anymore. Into the big garbage bin it went.
